For many years, these island cottagers used an ATV to access the water. But the steep path and hairpin turns were scary and limiting their cottage life. They decided it was time for a better solution.
The lift is hidden behind the boathouse so it doesn’t interfere with the flow of life by the lake. Even the lower button box is built into a boathouse post and is all but hidden. A specially programmed “PARK” button automatically moves the car part way up the track and out of the way of a much-used path at the lower end and hides the car down the track at the upper end.
It’s hard to see the lift from the water.
The owners opted for unfinished cedar in horizontal panels (versus our regular vertical style) that will weather attractively with the rest of the cottage.
We just missed this rock on the way up. We always ensure that the lift can travel safely even with an open gate.
The upper platform has a lovely sitting area.
