The Owners decided that it made sense to install this beautiful 2-Pitch Lift in to help sell their unique Shim-Sutcliffe designed cottage. The lift gives all prospective purchaser the ability to get to and from the water.
This lift was installed to give a paraplegic independent access to the water where she could swim and kayak with her daughters and neighbours. Before the lift she needed someone big and strong to get her from the cottage to the water.
This lift began with a call from a Real Estate Agent who had clients that were very interested in purchasing this property but they needed a lift to make it work for everyone in their family. 44 days later the property had sold, closed and the lift was running.
These owners didn't know about inclined lifts until we met at the 2014 Spring Cottage Life Show. They explained that access to the water had become impossible for some family members. Their lift now allows everyone to be at the lakefront together.
“Absolutely the best investment I made after I bought my beach home. My parents are elderly and would not have been able to navigate the stairs to the beach. With this lift that John and his incredible crew installed for us, we can all enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. Thanks again.”
This cottage has no outside stairs from the parking area to the boathouse without going through the kitchen-dining area. That meant a huge loss of privacy whenever things needed to be done in the boathouse. Plus, the cottage is two flights of stairs below the parking area and four stories above the boathouse. Our 3-Station/2-Pitch lift solved both problems.
There was no way for owners to use this property conveniently without a lift. Lovegrove Construction invited us to design a solution. It turned out there was only one spot at the top where we could place the lift and that, fortunately, worked for building the dock and the cottage.
This lift rises about five stories from the upper floor of the boathouse to a new patio behind the cottage and has given new life to the boathouse deck, for the first time since they owned the cottage this couple is able to dine there.
