    Assessment

    Before any site visit, we review your slope, bedrock, and shoreline geometry using drawings, photos, and satellite imagery, then report back on what’s possible. Every property is different. We’ve built lifts on steep granite Canadian Shield shorelines, sandy Lake Erie embankments, and near-vertical Quebec cliff faces. That experience lets us tell you early whether a lift is feasible, which configuration suits your terrain, and exactly what to look at when we visit.

    Consult

    On an on-site visit, we walk the property together, confirm what the desktop assessment suggested, and discuss the possibilities and your vision. This is where the lift starts to take shape: where the stations will sit, how the line should run, and how the lift will integrate with the cottage and the landscape.

    Design

    Together we choose the track configuration (single-pitch, two-pitch, three-pitch, or multi-station), cedar finish, stain colour, and any custom details: etched station name plates, automated gates, lighting integration, canopies, and more. We also work with your general contractor and landscape architect at this stage to ensure the lift integrates fully into your property, not just onto it.

    Fabricate

    Every track section, dolly, and car is built and tested at our Bracebridge shop. Each 20-foot section is located to ±1/16" precision before being welded into final geometry. Our grooved winch drums are machined locally at Bracebridge Machine Shop, and our wheels are custom-machined by Regent Tools from 4140 tool steel. Every component is built and assembled in Canada, designed for our terrain and our climate.

    Install

    Our team installs on your site using our own proprietary hoist systems, minimizing disturbance to the surrounding landscape. We protect vegetation, work around existing structures, and adapt in the field when the hillside requires it. Static components carry a 5-year warranty. Dynamic components, including the motor, gearbox, and electrical systems, are warranted for 2 years.

    Walk-Through

    We walk you through every aspect of the lift at handover: operation, safety systems, seasonal use, and maintenance. You leave confident, not just informed.

5-Year Warranty—Static Components

All static components—track, car, and structural assemblies—are guaranteed for five years.

2-Year Warranty—Dynamic Components

Motor, gearbox, electrical control systems, and paint finishes are guaranteed for two years.

Warranties assume all prescribed maintenance and repairs are performed by Inclined Elevation or an approved partner. Excludes damage from neglect, misuse, or acts of nature.

The questions we hear most often from cottage owners, architects, and builders.

How does the system handle four-inch ice accumulation on a 45° granite slope?

The captured-wheel design makes derailing mechanically impossible: wheels run inside the C-channel, not on top of it. Optional ice scrapers clear the track surface for winter use. Combined with industrial-duty motors and synthetic-lubricated reducers, our lifts run reliably through Canadian winter extremes, including heavy ice and snow loading.

What happens during a power outage?

Every lift includes an integrated manual override, and the car never locks mechanically in transit. For properties where four-season reliability is critical, an optional backup generator is available.

Will the lift damage the bedrock or shoreline ecosystem?

No. Each track leg carries less than 1,500 lb with a fully loaded car, and the triangular support geometry eliminates torque on the footings. Each footing occupies only one to eight square feet, anchored directly to bedrock where possible or pin-piled on forest floor with pea-gravel drainage. Concrete piers are almost never used—they heave with frost, and on cracked Shield rock the true frost line is impossible to predict.

How long does the entire project take?

From first conversation to commissioning, most lifts take six to twelve months. Shop fabrication typically takes place during the winter; on-site installation is normally done in two to four weeks, depending on track length and access.

Can the lift be customized to match the cottage architecture?

Yes. Bespoke integration is one of our defining strengths. Colour-matched Sansin SDF stains, red cedar fittings on the car and machinery covers, etched station button plates with names of your choosing, and automated gate systems can all be specified to suit the architecture of your property.

Do you support multi-tier properties with more than two stations?

Yes. We’ve engineered three- and four-station systems with a single PLC managing each station’s gate interlock, and standard and shallow-profile track can be combined on the same run to serve guest cabins, mid-hill lookouts, and multiple boathouse levels.

How are riders protected if the cable fails?

Triple-redundant braking, all independent of the hoist cable: (1) a slack-cable brake fires within less than an inch of slack, driving flame-hardened 4140 steel brake dogs into the track and stopping the car within a fraction of an inch; (2) a German-engineered overspeed governor trips above 0.5 m/s; (3) a slack-cable motor shut-off kills the hoist motor the instant tension is lost.
