Inclined Elevation Inc. is a team of experienced lift builders dedicated to creating the smartest, safest, most efficient hillside elevators available.

Our lifts are primarily the result of John Weinstein perfecting a core design that had been used to build hundreds of inclined elevators in Ontario since 1996.

John began evolving lift design and construction practices from day one in 2003 while building lifts with The Canadian Hillside Elevator Corporation. In 2004 John and a partner bought that company they formed CanadianHillside Lift. John ran the manufacturing and construction side of the business as well as doing the purchasing and product development. In 2005 he left Canadian Hillside Lift and, in 2006, founded Inclined Elevation.

His goals now are the same as they were then: build strong, rigid, safe, durable, smooth-running, attractive lifts that combine state of the art engineering with industrial strength construction and a natural, discreet, understated cottage look.

John brings a wide range of experience to the lift building business, experience that includes apprentice aircraft mechanic, Physics Professor, Researcher, and Teacher, boat builder, automobile re-builder, construction site supervisor, factory machine shop supervisor, machinist, production machine designer/builder, and industrial consultant. He is a craftsman with an understanding of both the theoretical and the practical.

Chris Stephenson started with us in 2009 and now runs the manufacturing operation at our Bracebridge shop. He and Dennis Anderson build the tracks, cars, chassis, and the other lift components we manufacture. Chris has nearly 20 years experience with all types of welding while working in building construction as a structural steel welder, production MIG welding in the automotive industry, pressure vessel pipe welding including gas pipelines, burner unit manufacturing, and much more.

Dennis Anderson has been building lifts with Inclined Elevation since 2010. With experience building in the field and in the shop, Dennis now spends most of his workdays in the Bracebridge shop, painting and finishing track and other components of the lift, as well as assisting with fitting work and keeping the build team and shop organized and supplied with the right parts, materials and working machines.

Ashlea-Elizabeth Smith is began as our field welder in spring 2014. With a background in metal arts, craft and design, Ashlea is equipped with the patience and scrutiny needed for the job. After a lengthy, vigorous, hands-on training period with Chris over the winter, Ashlea welded her first lift in June 2014, and will complete the 2014 season with six lifts under her belt.

The signature of the team is the pride we take in our work, we love what we do and we build every lift as though it were for our own families. Our names, literally and figuratively, go on every lift.

All our customers love their lifts too.
