This lift replaced a rickety set of stairs and runs from the cottage deck to the dock, a rise of about 7 stories.

Although the top end is about 17' off the ground the track was set so that the car arrives perfectly positioned between two railing posts for easy access. The upper gate is interlocked - it won`t open unless the car is in the station and the car will not move unless the gate is closed.

Before the lift it was easier to drive from the city to the cottage than it was to get from the cottage to the lake. Now the lake is a delightful 2 minutes away from the cottage and it`s practical to enjoy a breakfast coffee, a noon-day swim, and an evening glass of wine on the dock.
