We'd never heard of a 4-station inclined elevator. Then we built one!
It actually started as a 3 station lift, the parking area, the main floor of the cottage, and the dock, but during construction it became obvious that another station to the main sun deck of the cottage was going to be a valuable addition so the owners had us add a 4th station.
The total footprint of the lift on the ground is about 10 square feet. An equivalent staircase would have covered over 800 square feet of the forest floor.
Only one tree was removed to locate this 210' lift.
The vertical lift from the dock to the parking area is about 10 stories.
Each station has a 5 button control panel so you can go from any level to any other level. The remote allows you to change your mind in mid-track. The 2-hp variable speed motor gives smooth starts and stops.
Should the owners decide later to add interlocked gates or courtesy lights at any or all stations most of the wiring and the gate control systems are already in place.

The lift is so smooth and solid and feels so completely safe that sometimes people forget to sit and just enjoy the company, scenery, and the ride. |
A catwalk leads from the lower deck to this station. The owners opted not to put a gate at the landing for aesthetic reasons but installing a gate would be easy and the wiring and programming are already in place to make it an interlocked gate. |
