- 4 Passenger
- 215' long track
- 45°
-
this is a high track, the middle 160' is about 20' off the ground
- built in 2004
Prior to the installation of this lift the owners had never been to their lakefront!!! Now a trip between the water and the cottage, about 170' of vertical rise, takes 4 peaceful minutes and offers a spectacular view of the forest, cliff, and lake for up to 4 passengers per trip.
Although the middle 160' are about 20' off the ground the structure is so steady that even people with a fear of heights quickly find themselves feeling safe and at ease. The lift is also safe to use in the winter for snowmobile, cross country skiing and ice fishing adventures.
After the installation the property sold and the new owners said: "We would not have bought this property without the lift because it makes it possible to get to the water. Stairs just would not have worked for us."
This was a landmark lift and set some new "firsts" which revolutionized our lift building practices
-
we used an "Installator", a dedicated hoist that we invented and perfected, to build the track. We built the top 30' of track in the normal way and then installed the motor, gearbox, winch, control system and installator. We built the rest of the track in 20' sections on top of the first 30' and used the installator to carry them to end of the installed track where we lowered it into position and then added the legs and multiple triangular cross braces. The lift was built by three people who installed up to 20' of track per day.

Until this lift we had always built track from the bottom to the top, as was standard practice in the industry. The installator forced us to build from the top down, a strategy that proved to be so much better in so many ways that we almost always build track from the top down now.
Since building this lift we have developed 3 different types of interlocking gates which could be retrofitted to make the upper station access gates completely safe.
